About this podcast

What is this podcast about?
I started this podcast as an attempt to share my thoughts and experiences in an audio format. I spent a lot of time thinking about a format and an approach to podcasting and had everything worked out... only to find out that once I actually tried to record the audio that it didn't work for me.

Determined to move forward, I threw away my plans and decided to just do it, to see what works and what doesn't, to try to make each episode a bit better (whatever that means), and eventually, hopefully, settle on a format that works for me.

What appears to be emerging from this process is that this is a podcast about self-improvement. It is a journal of sorts, a public record of my attempt(s) to better myself and lead a fulfilling life.

What equipment do you use for your podcast?
Zoom H4
Audacity
work laptop + home netbook

What is your recording process?
I keep the H4 set up at work so that I can record when I get the urge. I open a new audacity project on Monday morning and add in the clips throughout the week during stolen moments. I try to record something every day, usually in the morning. I also bring the H4 with me and record bits going to and from work. I throw away a lot of it, and re-record parts as well. During my lunch break on Friday I polish everything up, save it as an MP3 file, and publish it.

How do you decide what music to include in your podcast?
Sometimes I choose new music that I discover during the course of the week. Other times I'll include a song from my own collection that for whatever reason resonated with me that week. I'll only include a song if I have paid for it or if I can find it on YouTube.
